New Transatlantic
Service (AX1)
Enhancing connectivity between North Europe and the US East Coast. Introducing the “Atlantic Express” to support growing industrial and consumer demand.
Effective Date: February 1, 2026
TMC is pleased to announce the launch of the Atlantic Express (AX1), a new dedicated weekly service connecting key ports in North Europe with the United States East Coast. This strategic addition strengthens our transatlantic footprint and offers faster transit times for time-sensitive cargo.
The AX1 service will deploy five vessels of 6,000 TEU capacity, designed to alleviate capacity constraints in the North Atlantic corridor. This loop specifically targets the automotive, chemical, and retail sectors, providing direct calls that bypass congested hubs.
Service Rotation & Transit Times
The rotation is optimized for reliability, featuring a 35-day round voyage with fixed-window berthing at all terminals.
| Port | Country | Terminal | Transit (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Antwerp | Belgium | Gateway 1700 | 0 |
| Rotterdam | Netherlands | World Gateway | 2 |
| Bremerhaven | Germany | NTB | 4 |
| New York / NJ | USA | Maher Terminal | 12 |
| Norfolk | USA | VIT | 14 |
| Savannah | USA | Garden City | 16 |
Inland Connectivity
The AX1 service is fully integrated with TMC’s inland network. Rail connections from Norfolk and Savannah provide seamless access to the US Midwest (Chicago, Memphis, Columbus) with through-bills of lading (TBL).
In Europe, extensive barge and rail links connect Antwerp and Rotterdam to the German hinterland, Switzerland, and Eastern France.
